2026 Artist Retreat Recap

The 2026 World of Watercolor Retreat was held at the Independence Inn in Strafford, New Hampshire—a charming, 200+ year-old New England inn nestled within walking distance of Bow Lake. As the inaugural retreat, it was intentionally designed to be small, intimate, and deeply personal.

Hosted May 1–3, the retreat had been fully sold out since 2025.

In the months leading up to the experience, each guest completed a detailed preference questionnaire—thoughtfully crafted to capture everything from favorite snacks and scent sensitivities to artistic challenges and ideal pacing. Every detail was considered to ensure a retreat that felt not only seamless, but truly tailored.

Upon arrival, guests were welcomed with curated gift baskets and their one-of-a-kind 2026 World of Watercolor collector bags. Following a champagne and popcorn welcome gathering, they retired to their rooms to discover an additional touch: a wellness bag filled with comforts designed to enhance rest and relaxation—eye masks, pillow mist, and other thoughtful essentials.

Over the course of the weekend, four watercolor sessions were carefully customized to meet guests exactly where they were, supporting both skill-building and creative confidence. Each meal was intentionally prepared, and a fully stocked “green room” table—brimming with snacks, beverages, and small indulgences—remained available throughout the entire stay.

There was space to slow down. Time to rest. And in between it all—laughter, connection, and meaningful breakthroughs.

As of the writing of this (May 3rd, 2026), eighty percent of attendees have already secured their place for 2027.
